Waste Cable Wire Recycling Machine for Copper and Plastic Recovery

The waste cable wire recycling line is designed to process non-oily scrap wires and cables, including communication wires, automotive wiring, computer cables, telephone wires, and wires from household appliances. The system uses staged shredding, crushing, air separation, screening, and optional electrostatic separation to recover copper granules and plastic or rubber granules from mixed wire waste.

The process begins with manual pre-sorting and feeding. Suitable material is conveyed to a single- or double-shaft shredder, depending on the required capacity, where the cables are reduced to manageable pieces of approximately 30 mm. A secondary knife crusher then further reduces the material before it is transferred to the air separation and screening stages. The air separators and vibrating screens separate the heavier copper from the lighter insulation materials, producing clean copper granules and a recoverable plastic fraction. Additional magnetic and electrostatic separation can be incorporated into the line when required by the feedstock and recovery targets.

A typical configuration includes a feeding conveyor, single-shaft shredder, belt magnetic separator, discharge conveyor, knife crusher, air conveying systems, air separators, linear vibrating screens, electrostatic separators, and pulse dust collectors. The cable recycling equipment layout can be adjusted according to the type of wire, feedstock characteristics, required capacity, and available workshop space.

The shredding and crushing equipment is designed with replaceable wear parts to simplify maintenance and control operating costs. The shredder uses a high-hardness shaft and tearing-type cutting mechanism with modular cutter heads, reducing the amount of cutting-tool material that needs to be replaced during maintenance. The crusher uses an alternating rotor knife arrangement to improve throughput, reduce vibration and noise, and maintain stable operation.

The complete copper wire recycling line is controlled by a PLC system for coordinated feeding, equipment operation, and automatic alarms. The air separation system can achieve a separation efficiency of up to 95% under suitable operating conditions. A pulse dust collection system is integrated into the process to control airborne dust, while the dry separation process eliminates the need for process wastewater discharge. By combining size reduction with multi-stage separation, the line provides a practical solution for converting difficult-to-process scrap wires into recyclable copper and plastic materials, while its modular configuration and replaceable wear components make it suitable for continuous recycling operations.
