Laminated Glass Recycling Line Key Technical Considerations

Recycling laminated glass at industrial scale requires more than conventional glass crushing. Materials such as PVB-laminated glass must be processed through controlled feeding, size reduction, glass/PVB separation, screening and discharge. The line configuration should match the feedstock, since automotive windshields, construction glass and other laminated products can differ in size, thickness, curvature and composition.

Capacity should be evaluated based on the complete system rather than a single machine. A quoted 3–5 t/h may represent theoretical machine capacity rather than actual continuous throughput. Buyers should request test results using representative material and confirm the required preprocessing, total installed power and actual energy consumption per ton.

Recovered material quality is equally important. For glass, key factors include particle size and residual PVB; for the PVB fraction, the amount of remaining glass and the condition of the recovered film should be confirmed. Glass processing also generates fine dust, so an industrial line may require dedicated extraction and filtration. Safety features, electrical controls and, where applicable, CE documentation should also be addressed before installation.

A complete proposal should clearly define the feeding system, conveyors, separation equipment, screening, dust collection, controls and final discharge rather than quoting only the main separator. Transportation, installation, commissioning, training and spare parts should also be included in the project evaluation. Ultimately, the right laminated glass recycling line depends on actual throughput, material compatibility, recovery quality, energy use, safety and total project cost.
