How Solar Panel Recycling Production Lines Work
The process begins with aluminum frame and junction box removal using a semi-automatic dismantling machine. Operators manually load the panels before the machine removes these components. The remaining panel is then processed by a heating system that loosens the bonded layers and facilitates glass removal. This stage is particularly important because recovering glass before further size reduction helps reduce unnecessary glass breakage and improves the quality of the recovered material.

After separation, the recovered glass is collected and screened into three different size fractions. The glass removal rate can exceed 99%, depending on the condition and structure of the incoming panels. The remaining photovoltaic backsheet and laminated materials are processed through shredding, fine grinding and screening. Air separation helps recover copper-bearing materials, while additional screening separates plastic-rich and silicon-bearing fractions.

The line combines several processing stages in a compact configuration to recover multiple material streams from end-of-life solar panels. Its overall material recovery rate is reported at over 94%, with results potentially reaching 95%, depending on feedstock composition and operating conditions. For recycling businesses with limited initial budgets, this system offers a lower-capacity entry point into PV module recycling without requiring a large-scale industrial plant.
