What Is a Single Shaft Shredder and How Does It Work

A single shaft shredder is an industrial recycling machine designed to reduce bulky, difficult-to-process materials into smaller, uniform pieces for further recycling. Compared with traditional crushing equipment, it uses a low-speed, high-torque cutting system to achieve stable operation, lower noise, and efficient size reduction.

Single rotor shredder is widely used for processing plastic waste, pallets, pipes, agricultural films, packaging materials, paper cores, wood, and other industrial solid waste. By changing the screen size, the output material can be adjusted to meet different recycling requirements.

The working process is simple and efficient. Large materials are fed into the cutting chamber and pushed by a hydraulic ram toward the rotating rotor. The material is then cut between the rotor knives and fixed knives until it reaches the required size and passes through the screen for discharge. The industrial shredder machine combines a powerful rotor system, durable cutting knives, hydraulic feeding, and intelligent control to handle continuous recycling operations. The high-torque design allows it to process tough materials with stable performance, while adjustable output size makes it suitable for different recycling applications.

With a processing capacity of approximately 600–1500 kg/h, a single shaft shredder is commonly used as the first stage of recycling systems before sorting, washing, granulation, or further processing.
