Based on material prices in April 2026, the recoverable value of end-of-life PV modules is approximately USD 880 per ton. Glass represents the largest material fraction, while aluminum, silicon-containing solar cells, copper-bearing ribbons, and junction boxes contribute significantly to the overall recycling value.

The recycling process is typically fully automated. Modules first undergo junction box and aluminum frame removal, followed by heated glass separation. The panels are then crushed, ground, and sorted to efficiently recover glass, silicon, and metals. This approach ensures high material recovery while minimizing labor and environmental impact.
