Toner and Ink Cartridge Sorting Recycling Solution

Our toner and ink cartridge recycling solution is designed to process 500–1000 kg per hour, efficiently separating plastics, ferrous metals, aluminum, copper, and toner powder. Waste toner cartridges are classified as WEEE and cannot be disposed of like municipal solid waste because the fine toner dust poses potential health and environmental risks. A specialized recycling process is therefore essential to ensure safety and resource recovery.

The process begins with primary shredding, where cartridges are reduced to about 5 cm. A vibrating screen collects most of the toner powder, while built-in temperature sensors and automatic valves ensure safe operation by injecting nitrogen if overheating occurs. The material then passes through a hammer mill for secondary crushing to around 3 cm, where fine residues are screened out. Subsequent steps include magnetic separation to recover ferrous metals, eddy current separation to isolate aluminum and plastics, and a pulse dust collection system with anti-static filter bags and pressure relief valves to prevent explosions.

Through this fully mechanical and physical treatment, hazardous components are stabilized or removed, and valuable materials are recovered with minimal loss. Beyond cartridges, the same technology can be applied to printers and fax machines, which contain recyclable commodities such as steel, aluminum, plastics, circuit boards, memory chips, copper, and glass.
