The first is mechanical treatment, where panels are crushed and then separated through multi-stage sorting systems. The second is thermal decomposition (pyrolysis), where the module is heated to approximately 500°C–600°C to melt and decompose the EVA layer, allowing the glass to detach cleanly. Thermal processing often achieves higher material purity, especially when high-value recovery is the goal.

After EVA separation, the material enters fine crushing and advanced sorting stages. Shredders, electrostatic separators, and multi-level screening systems are used to recover glass, silicon powder, copper, plastics, and residual aluminum. Glass represents more than 70% of the total module weight, making its purity extremely important. If contaminated with silicon powder or plastic residues, its market value drops significantly. High-precision separation technology is therefore essential to maintain strong resale value. In addition, photovoltaic cells contain silver and other precious metals. With specialized recovery solutions, recyclers can significantly increase silver recovery rates, further improving profitability.

A modern low-energy PV module recycling plant is designed not only for material recovery but also for environmental compliance. The system is typically equipped with dust collection units and exhaust gas purification systems to meet local regulations and ensure safe, pollution-free operation. High-purity copper and aluminum recovery, efficient precious metal extraction, and reduced energy consumption make advanced solar panel recycling lines both an environmental necessity and a commercially attractive investment.
