Car Windshield Recycling Efficient Glass and PVB Separation

With the growing demand for sustainable solutions in the automotive and construction industries, the recycling of laminated glass has become increasingly important. Waste car windshields and architectural laminated glass consist of glass sheets bonded with PVB, SGP, or EVA interlayers, which are difficult to separate using traditional methods. The complete recycling process includes three key steps: pre pressing, soaking, and separation. Pre pressing reduces the laminated structure, while water soaking penetrates the bonding interface between glass and PVB. This “water effect” weakens hydrogen bonds and van der Waals forces, allowing the two layers to detach. Finally, separation yields a complete sheet of PVB plastic film and clean glass particles.

Our machine is equipped with a pre press unit to crush laminated glass, a separator to extract glass without damaging the interlayer, and a double roller compactor capable of handling materials up to 1500 mm in size.
